Hajj charter flights: outbound and return planning

A Hajj flight programme needs coordinated outbound and return capacity. The number of passengers on each departure, their required arrival dates and the return schedule should be considered together. A single headline passenger total is not enough to build a workable rotation plan.

We assess the proposed departure airports, preferred Saudi gateway, flight frequencies and available flexibility. Tell us whether groups must travel together, whether departures are spread across several cities, and whether the return airport differs from the arrival airport.

Umrah charter flights and repeat rotations

An Umrah charter requirement may involve a specific group movement or a series of planned departures. For a repeat programme, provide the intended travel periods, passengers per flight, rotation frequency and length of stay. This helps us assess how outbound groups and returning passengers fit into the same aircraft schedule.

Full aircraft charter or ACMI?

Full charter for an agreed flight programme

A full charter provides dedicated aircraft capacity for an agreed flight or series of flights. It can suit an airline or pilgrimage organiser with defined group movements, routes and travel dates. The proposal sets out the aircraft, schedule, included services and commercial terms.

ACMI capacity for an airline

An ACMI wet lease provides Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance for an airline’s agreed capacity programme. For Hajj or Umrah operations, the enquiry should include the operating base, proposed routes, contract period and expected block hours and sectors.

Fuel, airport and navigation charges, handling, positioning and crew accommodation need an agreed allocation in the quotation and contract. A repeated schedule can suit either charter or ACMI; the commercial structure and division of responsibilities matter, not just the programme’s duration.

The aircraft types above are starting points for assessment. The specific passenger configuration, baggage requirement, route and airport conditions determine whether an aircraft is suitable. We review:

• Passenger numbers and cabin layout: seats required on each sector, rather than a generic capacity quoted for an aircraft family.
• Baggage and assistance needs: expected baggage loads, mobility assistance and any special group requirements.
• Routes and gateways: departure airports, proposed Jeddah or Medina arrivals, return airports and any routing flexibility.
• Schedule and support: aircraft positioning, turnaround time, crew planning and maintenance requirements.

How ACMI Lease provides aircraft capacity

Our solutions can involve aircraft we own or manage, aircraft dry-leased to partner AOC holders, or aircraft acquired or financed with our involvement. We also work with established partner fleets and suitable third-party capacity.

ACMI Lease coordinates the commercial capacity arrangement. The responsible Air Operator Certificate (AOC) holder operates the aircraft, retains operational control and assesses the aircraft against the proposed programme.

Every proposed programme remains subject to aircraft availability, operational feasibility, required regulatory approvals and agreed commercial terms. Aircraft confirmation does not by itself guarantee airport slots or traffic permissions.
